THE RETURN OF "THE GAMBLE"

Dmitri Karamazov will be challenging the City of Mount Vernon to come up with three objects for him to juggle.

If Dmitri can keep the objects, chosen by the audience, in the air for 10 counts he wins a standing ovation. If he loses he gets a pie in the face!

RULES:

  1. Must weigh more than an ounce (28 grams)
  2. Must weigh less than 10 pounds (4.5 kg)
  3. Must be no bigger than a breadbox
  4. Must not be a live animal
  5. Must not be able to stop the Dmitri from being a live animal
  6. Dmitri gets 3 tries, and can modify the objects 3 times.

In the past, objects have ranged from a dead octopus to full cakes to Slinkys™ to blocks of ice! Mount Vernon -- the honor of your town is at stake, do your worst!!!

And why, why are all these people giving of their time and energy to perform and support the New Old Time Chautauqua?

WHY? TO SUPPORT THE NEW OLD TIME CHAUTAUQUA'S 2026 AQUA CHAUTAUQUA TOUR TO CANADA'S NORTHERN GULF ISLANDS BY SAILBOAT!!!

This will be NOTC's 4th Sailboat tour in the last 17 years and this year is NOTC's 45th year of touring!  What makes this tour unique is not only that we're doing it by wind and sail, not only that we will be working with local First Nations, and not only that we will be collaborating with under-served remote Canadian island communities. What makes this year unique and compelling is that Port Townsend-based NOTC is reaching out to our fellow stewards of the Great Salish Sea, our First Nations and Canadian brothers and sisters and for a moment, making a plea, by our combined presence, that we as a diverse community are children of this land and sea, and that we pledge our stewardship to see to its renewal and revival, by working together and in harmony with all of its creatures, seas, shores, forests, rivers, and lakes.

GREAT HANDS ACROSS THE BORDER GATHERING

SATURDAY,  AUGUST 1, 2026 -- GABRIOLA ISLAND, BC CANADA

NOW YOU HAVE TWO REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD COME TO THE SHOW AT MOUNT VERNON. FIRST TO HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND THE SECOND TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY HERE AND THERE AND ALL AR0UND THE SALISH SEA!
